Casey Howard, Principal

Drawing inspiration from her clients, travels, architecture, and nature, designer Casey Howard brings a refined, eclectic eye to each of her projects. As a college sophomore studying abroad at the University of London, Casey had the opportunity to travel to sixteen countries, discovering new sources of inspiration with each destination that would one day influence her future designs. Formerly in Marketing and Sales support in the tech industry, Casey decided to utilize her business-minded background to follow her true passion for design.

At Casey Howard Designs, founded in 2012, the designer plays with old and new pieces, materials, and textures to create layered spaces that are at once classic and unexpected. By experimenting with scale, color, and unconventional accessories, Casey puts a fresh, edgy twist on classic design.

Casey holds a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing Management from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a degree in Interior Architecture and Design from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

Julia Lyman, Interior Designer

Growing up right here in Danville, Julia developed an eye for beautiful interiors at an early age. Her favorite weekend activity was browsing open houses with her mom just to revel in, and critique, the different design styles seen throughout the East Bay. Julia brings an affinity for spatial design, and inherent artistic ability to all of the projects she works on.

Before enrolling at UC Berkeley Extension’s program in Interior Architecture and Design, Julia received her B.A. in Organizational Studies from University of California, Davis. Using her entrepreneurial attitude and drive to create, Julia starter her own cold-pressed juice business before moving into her true passion; residential interior design.

Success means we go to sleep at night knowing that our talents and ablities were used in a way that served others.

Gabrielle Gutierrez, Operations

Gabrielle was immersed in the world of design from a very young age. Influenced by her grandmother’s love of all things creative, her upbringing was an eclectic mix of drawing, painting, ceramics, and making of all kinds. Those experiences were the catalyst that kickstarted her creative journey.

While perusing a degree in Business Administration, Gabrielle experimented in the Fine Arts. Oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting became her specialty, resulting in numerous awards as well as a scholarship for her work. During this time, Gabrielle had the opportunity to take a trip abroad. The undeniable beauty of England, Ireland, Wales, and Paris reinforced her passion for the visual arts. Ultimately, Gabrielle was able to combine her two passions, creativity and business management, through a BS in business administration and entrepreneurship from Cal State East Bay in 2019. Gabrielle joined the CHD team as operations manager in 2018.

Very easy to work with, understood & reflected my taste.
Presented several options, price points, etc. I was able to splurge on what was a deal breaker for me & cut back on less important items.

Casey Howard is by far the best interior designer I have ever worked with. She helped us build our house from the concept stage all the way through to the final furniture. She is organized, has a very current, hip view of how to approach projects and works really hard to make sure each project is perfect. I would recommend Casey to anyone on any project.
